In what will probably be a patently obvious statement, I am new to blogging. I am also hesitant to share the details of my life with the world (and so I won't share all the details, for which I am sure you are profoundly grateful). But, I have been on a remarkable journey from career, to stay at home mom world for 14 years, and now into a new career. This last June, I completed grad school, and with my newly minted MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science), I start my new job on Monday as an adult services librarian for a large public library system. Yes, there are systems out there hiring.
The process from deciding what the heck I wanted to do next, to how I would do it, to actually doing it, and then getting hired, was exciting, challenging and it was scary. And I haven't even started the actual job yet!
I want to document my journey for my own purposes (for instance, this will serve as a record when my memory finally does go, as it seems to be doing a little bit every day), but also because I know there are a lot of us forty-something moms (and dads) looking for the Act Two (or Three, or Four) in our lives. I sure was. Hence this blog. Part past-keeper, part diary of my future, and maybe even a little inspiration? Who knows.
So, I will spend a little time telling you (and me) how I got here, and where I am going. Okay, it will be library-centric, but who doesn't love a library?
If you're interested, come along for the ride.
